Ivan Akimochkin (1910 -1941).

In June 1941, lieutenant Akimockin was the commanding officer of the 98th detached anti-tank artillery battery, one of the leaders who fought on the eastern ramparts of the fortress.

He was shot dead by Nazis in early July 1941. Photo was taken in 1938.

In June 1941, Major Gavrilov was the commanding officer of the 44th infantry regiment. He headed defence in the East Fort, was taken prisoner on July 23, 1941, was liberated in 1945. In 1957, he was awarded the title «Hero of the Soviet Union». Photo was taken in 1941.
